On Saturday, April 17th, churches like yours across Oklahoma City are invited to take part in Sharefest, a one-day blitz of service.  Each church is encouraged to select a project that will be of significance to the surrounding community - one act of kindness that blesses families, neighborhoods, or schools.

Every year we invite non-profit organizations and compassionate ministries to submit a project. These are organizations that have a worthwhile cause but are in need of volunteers to help meet practical needs. For the next several days leading up to Sharefest, we will be highlighting one of these organizations so that you and your local church might consider partnering with one of these great ministries.

City Care’s Pershing Center & Westlawn Gardens Community:

From City Care’s website in regards to Pershing Center, “This back-to-work focused supportive housing program is designed to provide a supportive community environment that assists homeless individuals in transitioning out of homelessness and into permanent housing. We offer self-esteem, dignity, and hope to people whose lives have been thrown away by society or themselves. Local shelters serve the short-term needs of the homeless; we instead serve as a bridge to move people out of homelessness.”

About Westlawn Gardens, “City Care’s Westlawn Gardens development includes a 24-unit permanent supportive housing project completed in 2008. This development provides much needed housing for low-income families with disabilities, including some who have completed their transitional housing program at Pershing Center.”
